The customer on a Gift Card is always be identified as Walk In (as the card may be given to anyone). The Gift Card is not linked to the person who purchased it.
Gift Cards are never marked as redeemed because they can always be reused or topped up with more credit. Additional credit can be added to an existing card at any time: the customer pays to have it topped up or by the store owner issuing credit, i.e. best customer reward, special promotion – “add a fillet and get $10 added to your gift card”, compensation for problems with order, etc.
For security reasons, each time an Invoice containing a Gift Card is accessed, a record of the state of the card is be added to the Gift Card log (even if there is no change in the amount of the card.)
