Network Troubleshooting

Step 2 when a Guest device is unable to connect to your FrameReady Host computer.

Ping Test on the Guest Computer

These next steps assist you in performing a Ping Test

The Ping Test confirms whether the Guest computer can access the Host computer over your network.

Ping Test using Windows 10

  1. Press the Windows key + R.

    The Run dialog window appears.

  2. Type  cmd  into the Run dialog and click OK.

    A system window opens.

  3. Type ping (where is your Host's IP Address)

    For example,  ping 192.168.1.100

  4. Press Enter

  5. If the test is successful, then you will see a number of lines all stating  Reply from   .

  6. If the test is not successful, then you will see a number of lines stating  Request timed out  .

If the ping test was not successful, then try these steps:

  1. On the Host computer, temporarily turn off the Windows Firewall.

  2. Try to ping again.

If you still cannot ping, this is a setup or hardware problem, do not proceed further.

  3. If you can successfully ping the host, turn the Host's firewall back on.

  4. Select Firewall > Advanced Settings.

  5. Select Inbound Rules.

  6. Search the list for FileMaker Pro. If not found, then click New Rule...

    Choose Port.

In Specific local ports, enter  5003 .

    Choose Allow the connection.

    Leave the rules as-is.

Enter a Name, e.g.  FileMaker Pro

  7. Right-click and enable all IPv4 Echo requests

Important: If the ping test was not successful, then this indicates a hardware issue with the network or the computers on the network.

Contact your network administrator.
