The Problem

Filemaker Pro 17 won’t open, despite clicking the icon. The task manager does not show it running and you cannot view or see FileMaker FMP menu bar at top of screen.

The Solution

On occasion, FileMaker Pro 17 does not exit Windows nicely.

Open the Windows Task Manager using Ctrl + Shift + Esc and then choose “More Details.” You will probably see it listed under “Background Processes” – right-click and choose End Task. Re-open as normal.
