Ping Test on the Guest Computer
These next steps assist you in performing a Ping Test
The Ping Test confirms whether the Guest computer can access the Host computer over your network.
Ping Test using Windows 10

Press the Windows key + R.
The Run dialog window appears. -
Type cmd into the Run dialog and click OK.
A system window opens. -
Type ping
(where is your Host's IP Address)
For example, ping 192.168.1.100 -
Press Enter

If the test is successful, then you will see a number of lines all stating Reply from
-
If the test is not successful, then you will see a number of lines stating Request timed out .
If the ping test was not successful, then try these steps:

On the Host computer, temporarily turn off the Windows Firewall.

Try to ping again.
If you still cannot ping, this is a setup or hardware problem, do not proceed further. -
If you can successfully ping the host, turn the Host's firewall back on.

Select Firewall > Advanced Settings.

Select Inbound Rules.

Search the list for FileMaker Pro. If not found, then click New Rule...
Choose Port.
In Specific local ports, enter 5003 .
Choose Allow the connection.
Leave the rules as-is.
Enter a Name, e.g. FileMaker Pro -
Right-click and enable all IPv4 Echo requests
Important: If the ping test was not successful, then this indicates a hardware issue with the network or the computers on the network.
Contact your network administrator.
Ping Test using Mac OSX

On your keyboard, press Command and Space.
Spotlight Search opens. -
Begin typing the word network utility .
Spotlight auto-completes the word. -
Press Return.
The Network Utility opens. -
Open the Ping tab.

Type the Host IP Address into the box provided.

Click Ping.

If the test is successful you will see a number of lines all stating: 64 bytes from
(where is your Host's IP Address). -
If the test is not successful you will see a number of lines stating No route to host .
Important: If the ping test was not successful, then this indicates a hardware issue with the network or the computers on the network.
Contact your network administrator.
