Tip: Sidebar buttons are visible when FrameReady is in Form View mode.
The items in the Price Codes file are organized into Groups, as represented by sidebar buttons.
Each component that goes into the assembly of a custom picture frame, must be categorized into a Group:
Moulding - prices by length with markup, set price or matrix (Canadian)
Matboard - prices by area with markup, set price or code
Fabric - prices by yardage with markup, set price or code
MatDesign - prices by area or item with United Inch or fixed price (no markup)
Mounting - prices by area or item with markup, set price or code
Hardware - prices by United Inch or fixed price (no markup)
Glass - prices by area or lite size with markup, set price or code
Extra - prices by United Inch or fixed price (no markup)
Fitting - prices by United Inch or fixed price (no markup)
Multi-Angle - multiplies the sum of all of the framing components by the markup
Supplies - items purchased in bulk - not entered on Work Order
In setting up your program, you must determine what item fits into what group. Some are obvious, some are not. For example, you need to decide whether to place shadow box treatment under the Mounting group (Mount/Stretch in Work Order file) or the Extra group. Deciding which is a matter of placing the component, design feature or procedure in the group that you think best fits your way of pricing and organizing.
FrameReady comes pre-loaded with a few items in each group - helpful as a starting point. It is your job to add or delete items for your particular operation. Then you must set up the pricing for each item in the group in order to make the pricing in the Work Order come out the way you want.
When you click in the field for each component on the Work Order, you will see the items for the specific group which are listed in the Price Codes file. They will be sorted alphabetically.
Customizing this part of FrameReady is one of the most important things to do when first setting up your program. Time and effort spent here will pay you back later when designing and pricing a custom frame.
