Adjusting Labels for Your Printer

Due to variations in printers and print drivers, labels may not line up as they should on a label sheet. In such cases, the label layout will need to be adjusted to accommodate your particular printer. This procedure can only be accomplished using a full version of FMP software.

How to Adjust Labels for your Printer

  1. Open FrameReady with level4 account and password.

  2. Go to Product Labels > Perform > Restore Full Menus.

  3. Choose View > Status Toolbar.

The screen shifts down and reveals the Status Toolbar with a flip book on the top left.

  4. Choose View > Layout Mode.

FileMaker Pro switches from browse mode to layout mode.

  5. Click on the Layout dropdown and choose the label you wish to adjust.

If no customer names are present, the screen is blank. It is not necessary to have a customer name showing.

The screen changes to the layout of the Label.

  6. To adjust the margins, choose Layouts > Layouts Setup...

The Layout Setup dialog box appears.

  7. Choose the Printing tab and click in the Use fixed page margins box.

  8. Enter the correct page margin size.

If the amount of measurement is not indicated in inches (in) then click Cancel. Next, click the upper-left corner of the layout where the horizontal and vertical rulers meet until you see the unit of measure you want.

It is recommended that the bottom measure be slightly less than the actual amount of paper on the label sheet. The amounts in the fixed page margins fields on the screen should match the amount of space between the label and the edge of the paper. If you have a header on the screen, be sure to take the measurement of the header into account or remove it.

  1. Click OK.

  2. Choose View > Browse Mode.

  3. Click on Layout dropdown and select the Data Entry or default Form View.

  4. Click the Main Menu button to wrap up.

Tip: While adjusting your labels, use a scrap piece of paper and print only one page. When the print dialog box appears, select page 1 of 1.
