Taking an Overpayment

If a customer sends you a check for an amount greater than the invoice, here is how to enter it into FrameReady.

How to Enter an Overpayment and Issue Store Credit

  1. Locate or create an Invoice for the customer.

  2. Click the Enter A Payment button.

    The Receipts window appears; the amount owed is automatically added.

  3. In the Amount field, enter the check's amount.

  4. In the Tender field, choose  Chq  .

  5. Click Done.

  6. Note that the Payment and Balance fields are now negative and in red. This indicates that you now owe the customer.

  7. Click the Enter A Payment button again.

    The Receipts window appears; the amount you owe the customer is automatically added as a negative number.

  8. In the Tender field, choose how you want to apply the credit, e.g. Refund - Store Credit.

  9. Click Done.

  10. An alert may appear informing you of the refund, e.g. "A store credit of $ will be issued for this refund." Click OK. A receipt appears, click Continue to print.

Tip: If you open the Contacts file, the customer name from the Invoice is automatically loaded. Click the Credits tab and confirm that the store credit has been applied.
