Restoring from a Backup
Important Considerations

The date and time of the backup files, as in when they were created, will determine what data is or is not available.

Older backups will not have recent data in them. Take caution when replacing a "Data" file with an older version!
How to Restore from a Backup on Windows
Caution: If you are networking, then this can only be done on your FileMaker Server computer.

Exit out of your FrameReady on all computers.
If you are using FileMaker Server, then you must stop the service first. See: Stopping and Starting Files -
Open the Windows Explorer program (keyboard shortcut: Windows Key + E ) and then open the folder containing the most recent backup of your FrameReady program.
Your backup source could be a USB drive, a Dropbox folder, or another location.
You should see a list of FileMaker files, i.e. ArtResource.fmp12, Consignments.fmp12, Contacts.fmp12 etc. -
Select the files you need to recover by single-clicking them while holding down the Ctrl key on the keyboard.
If you need to recover all of your FrameReady files, then press Ctrl + A on the keyboard to select all of the files. -
Tip: All of your business data is contained in the many "Data" files.
Important: if one of these files is damaged, then recover the file before replacing it with a backup copy.

Click the Edit menu (at the top of the screen) and choose Copy.
If you do not see the edit menu, then press the Alt key on your keyboard. -
Use the Windows Explorer program to open your current FrameReady folder.
If you are using FileMaker Server, then the default location is:
C:\Program Files\FileMaker\FileMaker Server\Data\Databases\FrameReady
If you are using FrameReady 13, then the default location is:
C:\Users\[Account name]\FrameReady 13
If you are using FrameReady 10 or older, then the default location is:
C:\SofTouch Solutions\FrameReady 10
You should see a list of files: Contacts, Invoices, etc. -
Click the Edit menu at the top of the screen and choose Paste.
If you do not see the edit menu, then press the Alt key on your keyboard. -
You should get a message that the files already exist, click Yes to All or Copy and Replace (depnds on your version of Windows) to replace the old files with your backup.

How to Restore from a Backup on Macintosh OSX

You should see a list of files: Contacts, Invoices, etc. -
