Restoring from a Backup

How to Restore from a Backup on Windows

Caution: If you are networking, this can only be done on your Host computer.

  1. Exit out of your FrameReady program.

  2. Insert your backup source (CD, USB drive, etc).

    These instructions assume the backup source is a USB drive.

  3. Double-click the My Computer or Computer (Windows Vista/7) icon on the desktop or select it from the Start menu.

  4. Double-click the drive that represents your USB drive.

    Windows Explorer opens.

  5. Open the folder that represents the most recent backup of your FrameReady program.

    You should see a list of files: Contacts, Invoices, etc.

  6. Select the files you need to recover by single-clicking them while holding down the Ctrl key on the keyboard.

    If you need to recover all of your FrameReady files, press Ctrl + A on the keyboard to select all of the files.

  7. All of your data is contained in the Data01, Data02, Data03, Data04, Data05 and Data06 files.

IMPORTANT: if one of these files is damaged, try to recover the file before replacing it with a backup copy.

  1. Go to the Edit menu at the top of the screen and click Copy.

    If you do not see the edit menu, press the Alt key on your keyboard.

  2. Double-click the My Computer or Computer (Windows Vista/7) icon on the desktop or select it from the Start menu.

  3. Double-click Local Disk C.

  4. Double-click SoftTouch Solutions.

  5. Double-click on the FrameReady folder that represents the version you are currently using.

    You should see a list of files: Contacts, Invoices, etc.

  6. Go to the Edit menu at the top of the screen and click Paste.

    If you do not see the edit menu, press the Alt key on your keyboard.

  7. You should get a message that the files already exist, click Yes to All or Copy and Replace (Windows Vista/7) to replace the old files with your backup.

How to Restore from a Backup on Macintosh OSX

Caution: If you are networking, this can only be done on your Host computer.

  1. Exit out of your FrameReady program.

  2. Insert your backup source (CD, USB stick/drive, etc).

    These instructions will assume the backup source is a USB drive.

  3. Double-click the icon on the desktop that represents your USB drive.

    Finder opens and shows the drive contents.

  4. Open the folder that represents the most recent backup of your FrameReady program.

    You should see a list of files: Contacts, Invoices, etc.

  5. Select the files you need to recover by single-clicking them while holding down the Command key on the keyboard.

    If you need to recover all of your FrameReady files, press Command + A on the keyboard to select all of the files.

  6. All of your data is contained in the Data01, Data02, Data03, Data04, Data05 and Data06 files.

  3. Double-click on the FrameReady folder that represents the version you are currently using.

  5. You should get a message that the files already exist, click Replace to replace the old files with your backup.
